Blooming Cake Reveal!
I am so excited to reveal my Photofrost Icing Sheets! cake! I have worked for several weeks on design and then had to rethink my whole project. I decided to make my cake bloom with all of the beautiful flowers around. I am so pleased with my outcome. I am just a regular person so my cake reflects my style.
I started with baking a two layer small cake. When it came out of the oven I used a long bread knife to make cut it flat. You just take the knife and cut across the top and then voile your cake is “square”. I don’t have to worry about volcano shaped cakes when I use this method.
I filled it with apple butter which is one of my family’s favorite fillings. I then used my buttercream frosting recipe to cover those two luscious layers of cake. I love my special bent spatula to smooth my frosting. I also used my vintage cake plate painted by my Grandmother years and years ago!
I have had a blast making this cake! I love my frosting and had to hold back as I could just eat all of the creamed butter alone. Wow, loving the memories!
During the smoothing process. I lumped frosting on and tried to avoid pulling crumbs off of cake into frosting.
Next step is airbrushing a color base to my cake. This is a stencil made from cutting the Photofrost Icing Sheets! with my eBosser . I used Wilton food Markers to apply the color. I just love experimenting with color and also with shading and shadows and that is why I used the markers.
I used the markers to under-shadow all of my placements for my Photofrost Icing Sheets! flowers.
I used Spellbinder’s Flower die and also a border die to cut out my Photofrost for my cake. I love the gold border around the sides of the cake! For the flowers I made three layers and the last one I rolled for a center for my flowers
My cake is very simple and homey but filled with love!
I hope to make another soon because I forgot how much fun it was to make a fuss over a cake! I can’t wait to share my “decorating” with my grand-daughter and grand-son who will love licking the beaters.
The dragonfly was also a Spellbinder die and I used the Wilton Markers and also the Wilton Sparkle Gel to make him come to life! I love my cake and am so happy that I was honored to use Photofrost sheets! Thank you so much I will be purchasing more!
I hope you enjoyed my cake and hope that you too try one! It is so much fun and the eBosser makes it super easy!
Have a great summer and see you next week!
