Back to School with Style!

A Gift for Teacher!

It is so wonderful that school is back in and so many great learning experiences are right on the horizon. I have many friends who are teachers. Several of them enjoy reading books as their form of escape, from everyday life. I know two of them in particular  that read like crazy and always have their books with them. They are old school and actually carry their books everywhere. No electronic books for them. So  I decided to try my hand at making a bookmark with a twist for each.

I love Teresa Collins beautiful folders they just sing out to be used. I love  her Cabbage Rose Folder it  is one of my favorites. For this project I used foil tape and a cereal box for this one. I so love the embossed foil. My ebosser rules the roost here.

After embossing the foil and placing on the cut out cereal box, I applied a series of permanent  inks to the foil. I love the blues and purples. I also cut a hole for my shaggy yarn bookmark fringe. I then sprayed it with an acrylic clear coat. I know that it will be a hit with my friends! Happy 2014 School Year to all!

Elegant Idea for Holiday Gifting

Holiday Gift Embellishment Idea

Having Teresa Collins around has given me so much enthusiasm. I am so ready to get my holiday preparation into full gear. I love Teresa Collin’s elegant style and long to have gifts to give that others will say “what decorator wrapped her gifts?” So my adventure begins!

I decided to make a metallic gift tag for my gifts. Now this is not a little out of the light tag , NO.. I am talking about a beautiful package. I want to have time stop when they see their gifts. Well it is my fantasy..LOL.

So I took the soda can and cut it into a flat sheet. If you do this be very careful as the metal edges are very sharp. I then took my stack of soda can sheets and placed them under several heavy books.  I left them until they didn’t curl much, The next step was to cut my blank out . I took  one of my Spellbinders dies and cut the tag shape that I love. I love my eBosser it makes all of my projects so much fun.  My next step was using the Teresa Collins Cabbage rose embossing folder and placed my tag in it. I love the clean emboss that I get from my eBosser. I next took some inks and “antiqued” my tag.  I  also placed some ribbons of organza I can’t wait to put my gifts into the waiting hands of my family!

The tag is backed with craft foam. This offers a great place for a sentiment or greeting. I love the look and hope that you will share your great ideas for gift box embellishments in the comment sections below..

Thank you for viewing my Holiday Tag!

See you next week,

Princess Has Found Her Slippers!

Princess Slippers Found!

Well my summer visitor has by the time this posts gone back home to mom. I had so much fun and for the first time in years had to rush around to get all done! We did have a magical time and it was worth every moment. I discovered so much that I have taken for granted. I pray that one day again I can have this great and inspirational experience again! To make accessories for a little princess was so much fun. Last week we made hair bands and this week we made princess shoes.

My princess is four and loves all things pink and glittery, so that is right up my alley. I found that Wally World had these great flip flops for the unbeatable price of .97 cents. So two pairs of princess shoes were made in a wink. She was and is so delighted with them.

I was also delighted with them as I used up so many scraps to embellish them. The pink “ribbon” was from a purse that I made and the silver glitter “tear drops” were the left overs from the glitter paper cut out from my last project. I also used some decorative rhinestones to finish off the effect. Well they looked nice but something was still missing so we experimented with my favorite Teresa Collin’s embossing folder. It was a great finishing touch!

I used the folder to “stamp” on the edges of the flip flop. It was so wonderful. I used both the Sophisticated (UNI) and the Cabbage Rose (UNI) folders to decorate the shoe edges. You can see all of the wonderful embossing folders that Teresa Collins has designed for CraftwellUSA by clicking here.

I used StazOn ink in several colors to apply these designs to the shoes. It was very easy to use a brayer and then roll the folder on the side of the shoe. I wish that you could see all of the glitter and see the true beauty in the eyes of the Princess.

Thank you Teresa Collins and Craftwell for helping keep my grand-daughter’s belief that I can do anything and that her Princess Shoe are magical! I guess together we are Magical!

Thank you so much for putting up with my ramblings, I wish all of you more and great events in your lives as well best,
